Free Geology Field Trip

May 16 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Hutton & Smith present another Geology Field Trip!

If you haven’t noticed, we love Geology.  We also love cats, but we love Geology just as much, maybe more.  Once a month we gather up friends and patrons for a trip outside the taproom.  You can’t just sit in the pub all day drinkin’ pints, so here’s your chance to get outside and learn someting!  Details below:

– Meet in front of the Hutton & Smith taproom and follow along in your own vehicle for a guided geology field trip!
 – This event is free and all ages are welcome! Walking distance will be approximately .25 miles.
– We will drive to some rock outcrops that demonstrate the features that James Hutton observed when he helped to set down the principles for geology as a science of its own,
and discuss how these features were formed, and what you can determine by observing layers of strata.
– Field trip will end back at the taproom if anyone wants to carpool, please be prepared to drive in your own vehicle and bring water!
– Departure 11:15, duration approximately 1-1.5 hrs.

One of the best things about our monthly field trip is that Melanie Krautstrunk is your host and guide.  In addition to being a Hutton & Smith Co-Founder with beer smarts, she’s also a geology genius and is always ready to drop that knowledge.  Can’t wait to see y’all on the trails – James Hutton would be proud!

What did one tectonic plate say to the other when they bumped? “Sorry, my fault”.
